River City Running Club Scholarship

Established in 2024, the River City Running Club Scholarship honors high school seniors who have participated in cross-country and/or track, supporting our mission to encourage runners of all levels. At the River City Running Club, we believe running fosters strong social connections and promotes lifelong healthy habits. Each year, one student from Logan High School and one from Central High School in La Crosse will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship.

Eligibility

  • Must be a graduating high school senior from Logan or Central High Schools
  • Must have participated in high school cross-country and/or track (student managers are also eligible)
  • Must be in good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Must plan to attend a four-year college/university or technical school.
  • Membership in RCRC is not a requirement, though of course – you are welcome to join us for our group runs

Required Documentation

  • Completed application form
  • Official high school transcript
  • Personal essay (500 words) describing how running has impacted your life and future goals
  • List of athletic and extracurricular activities
  • Proof of acceptance to a post-secondary institution (can be submitted after selection if pending)

Selection Criteria

Recipients will be selected based on:

  • Athletic participation and leadership
  • Academic achievement
  • Community involvement
  • Quality and content of personal essay
  • Letters of recommendation

Awards

Recipients will be announced at each high school’s senior awards night. Scholarship funds will be sent directly to the college or university of the student’s choosing, pending proof of registration for students’ first semester. Instructions will be included with the students’ certificates.
