History of the Goose bumps 6/24 Hour Run

Origins & Purpose

The Goose bumps Run began as a grassroots fundraiser in La Crosse/Stoddard, Wisconsin, initiated by the Local Lupus Alliance to support individuals and families affected by lupus. Over time, it evolved into a signature endurance challenge, now hosted by the River City Running Club. The unique 6- and 24-hour format offers participants the chance to push personal limits in a supportive, flexible environment.

Location & Course

The race is held on a scenic 2.8-mile cross-country trail along the Mississippi River backwaters. It features flat and shaded terrain ideal for both runners and walkers. Organized by a committed team of local volunteers, the course emphasizes both beauty and safety, making it accessible to athletes of all levels.

Growth & Notable Milestones

  • Celebrated its 13th annual event in 2024.
  • 24-hour participants have surpassed 120+ miles, with consistent finishes over 100 miles.
  • Top 6-hour runners have completed 40+ miles, with leading women hitting over 37 miles.
